Overview
Shikaku is built to collect as little data as possible. There is no account to create, no server storing your progress, and we do not sell or share data with anyone. This page explains exactly what is stored and where.
What we store
All game data lives exclusively in your browser's localStorage and is never transmitted to our servers:
- ▸Your solved daily puzzles and finish times — used to compute your streak, best time, and solved count.
- ▸Your in-progress board state (placed rectangles) so a page refresh doesn't reset your game.
- ▸Everything is kept under a single key named "shikaku:v1". No nickname, email, password, or any personally identifying information.
Cookies and tracking
We set no cookies, use no analytics service, run no tracking pixels, and show no ads. No third-party cookies are set by this site.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any hosting provider, Vercel's servers may automatically log basic requests (IP address, browser type, timestamp) for security and operations. We do not process or store those logs ourselves.
Your control
Because everything is stored in your browser, you are fully in control of it. Clearing your browser's site data (or localStorage) permanently deletes all your Shikaku progress and stats. You never need to ask us to do it.
Children
Shikaku collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no data collection.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.
